summerofsims asked: I'm not sure whether you would know but I've had my chinchillas for a little over a year now and recently ones being getting a white discharge from his eyes. He's not the tamest of chinchillas so taking him to a vet is a little bit difficult unless its necessary! I'm happy to but I was just wondering whether there was anything else I could do at home for it to clear up by itself? Thank you
Unfortunately, watery eyes and discharge is usually a sign of infection, and a sign you need to visit a vet! This is the only way to find the root of the problem, whether it is a scratched cornea, teeth issues, or something else. I completely understand having an unruly chinchilla, so your best bet to transport him may be to lure him into a carrying case with a treat or dust bath. I have had success with that method, although it can take a while! Make sure you take him to a vet that is experienced in exotics and will know how to handle a chinchilla!
